I attended a conference last week. One of the speakers (even I gave a speech about my organization….. :-)) was introduced to the stage with the following words… “It’s my proud to introduce Mr. X who is an evangelist in the field of XXX …..” I was excited to see him and listen to his speech. He came to the stage just like someone who is tired of these activities and gave a good presentation about his area of work…
The presentation was convincing for me. The question is, for such kind of a presentation do he required such an introduction? I don’t know why but I liked the word “evangelist” a lot and I tried to find a meaning of technology evangelist. Somewhere in the net it says that a technology evangelist is “a person who enthusiastically promotes or supports something”.
I was curious to know more about him and somehow I managed to speak with him during the lunch time. During the conversation I came to know that he is working with that firm for a very long time and he is working in the same technology as well. I asked him do you like your job too much that you never changed the company or the technology. The (so called) evangelist told me…“Dude I am fed up with what I am doing but I never had any chance to move out…”
I don’t know how to describe my feelings now…the reasons are
1) He is a very good guy
2) His presentation skills are good
3) He know the product very well
But these facts never allow me to call him an evangelist…
According to me an evangelist is someone who got lot of potential to make a change, Who is like a visionary, Who know what he does and the output to some extend, Who gave his/her life for a purpose etc etc etc.
According to me people who doesn’t comes under this category and still others calls them and evangelist then my meaning for evangelist (for those )goes something like this…
Evangelist = Bullshit

I normally don’t believe praising an individual or those who are there in the lime light for achievements. (Yes I do understand their hard work and I do respect them)If a firm achieves something it’s basically a collective effort rather that the ability of a CEO or any such names… ( i am not saying that a CEO is not playing any role.. but still
)
Ok.. Now back to business.. I was watching Oscar this morning and in between some 2-3 minutes caught my attention. I don’t know whether everyone knows the way how Oscar award happens.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences uses proportional voting (also known as a preferential system) for the selection of Oscar nominees. The idea of a proportional (or preferential) vote is that nominations represent an outcome with multiple winners, and a proportional system more accurately limns the collective judgment of AMPAS voters. In a proportional system, individual voters have more of a chance to have an influence on the outcome.
Under the AMPAS nominating system, the Academy’s approximately 5,500 members receive their ballots in December. Each AMPAS members is allowed to vote as many as five times in their occupational category (actors for actors, directors for directors, writers for writers, etc.). The candidates that the member votes for are listed in declining preference, from the voter’s first choice through the fifth. To determine nominations, the votes will be counted according to the level of preference (first preference before second preference, second before third, etc.).
PricewaterhouseCoopers manually tabulates the responses according to Academy rules. Each year, it takes approximately 1,700 “person-hours” to count and verify the ballots by hand. It takes seven days to count the ballots for nominations and three days to count the ballots for winners.
So forget about the super stars. It’s the PWC Partners from the LA office does this work!!! Three days before the voting they move to an undisclosed location and do the counting manually!! Sunday morning, they’re each picked up by a bodyguard — an off-duty LAPD officer, who shadows them through the day, ensuring no one tries to steal the results. They walk the red carpet, their tuxes accessorizedonly by their Longchamps black leather briefcases, each stuffed with a set of the 24 envelopes. They each stand on either side of the stage, and they hand the appropriate envelope to the presenter before they walk out on stage.
Nice isn’t it ?

Screening of Jodhaa Akbar was banned in Madhya Pradesh.The reason is rajput community threatened that they will set fire to cinema halls…
”The government has suspended the screening of the movie in the state with immediate effect as protests at cinema halls have posed a threat to maintenance of peace,” Commercial Tax Department Addition Secretary said. In his order banning the screening of the film produced by UTV Software Communications Ltd, Parihar said the decision was taken in accordance to provisions under the Madhya Pradesh Cinema (Regulation) Act, 1952.
Describing the depiction of the Jodhaa Bai as Akbar’s wife in the Bollywood movie as an ”insult” to the community, Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha has threatened to burn the movie reels and cinema halls screening the film, which has been directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar.
What a news.. this is called freedom.. one can make a movie the way he wanted .. others can set fire the cinema halls..

Just fewer than 15,000 people have been moved from their homes to make way for Olympic venues, the organizers of the Beijing Olympics say.
Beijing’s Municipal Construction Committee said 14,901 people from 6,307 households had been moved.
The figures differ dramatically from those provided last year by an international campaign group.
The Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions (COHRE) said 1.25m people had been displaced ahead of the Games.
Who told you that there is some value for human rights !!!!!!

According to the new studies by National Health Service (NHS), Sexercise can lover the risk of heart attack and helps you to live longer!!!
Endorphins released during orgasm stimulate immune system cells, which also helps target illnesses like cancer, as well as wrinkles, it states.
NHS Direct, however, told that this was “backed by science and clinical evidence” and “isn’t just a bit of fun”.
The advice, published under the headline “Get more than zeds in bed”, is one of several sexual health-related articles to be found on the NHS Direct website.
Sex with a little energy and imagination provides a workout worthy of an athlete, the article says. “Forget about jogging round the block or struggling with sit-ups.
“Sex uses every muscle group, gets the heart and lungs working hard, and burns about 300 calories an hour.”
The advice suggests “regular romps this winter” could lead to a better body and a younger look.
Increased production of endorphins “will make your hair shine and your skin smooth,” it adds.
“If you’re worried about wrinkles - orgasms even help prevent frown lines from deepening.”
The article goes on to say that orgasms release “painkillers” into the bloodstream, which helping keep mild illnesses like colds and aches and pains at bay.
The production of extra oestrogen and testosterone hormones will keep your bones and muscles healthy, leaving you feeling fabulous inside and out”.
